I just heard about his speech today. I listened to snippets of it, and I found myself in a similar line of thinking as you stated in your article. I am an educated woman and had a career before having my two kids. Then, I because a stay-at-home mom for nearly 7 years simply because it made more sense economically than working to just send my kids to daycare all day with a stranger. Now that I'm back in the workforce, I can't imagine never being again. The fact is I'm a better version of myself when I'm working.

If I'm being fully honest, I don't think men have a leg to stand on in regards to the work/home life balance most women have to face. Of course our partners are impacted by our decision to work or stay home, but in reality, as you said, we are the ones doing the work on the home front. It is hard to understand the many struggles of being a SAHM, with a desire to also work, unless you've been there. Thank you for pointing out all of this in your beautiful piece!
